iPad 3 July rumours

With the iPad 2 only a few months old I’ve been reading on various websites that the iPad 3 could be realise in time for Christmas 2011! Oh yes, that’s right we could see the see the release of two iPads in one year.

Although, this is just speculation there does seem to be a lot of it and you know the saying about smoke and fire.

So what do the rumours say about the changed being implemented, well apparently we will see a much improved retina display, a camera flash, SD card slot, Improved HDMi and wireless synchronisation so that we can do away with wires when syncing content.

These rumours will more than likely continue for the rest of the year.

iPhone 5 update

Most of you will know that by now the new iPhone 5 should have recently been release because Apple always releases their products around the same time of year such as March being the iPad’s month and the iPhone usually released in May or June.
However, due to the earthquake and resulting tsunami which hit Japan earlier this year it look like Apple will be pushing back the release of the iPhone 5 due to delays in the delivery of key components.
This obviously means that we will all have to wait a little longer for the next model with the month of October being closer to a release sate.

This will actually be good news for me because my current contract expires in November so I should be able to switch straight over!

Blackberry Playbook

As you all probably know already, Blackberry has launched it’s own tablet device set to rival Apple’s iPad. I’ve not actually had a play with it yet but from what I’ve seen on the advert it does look pretty good.
However, the best thing that I like about the Playbook advert is the way that they announce the fact that you can browse flash based websites, which of course you can’t do with the iPad. They simply do this by playing the song Flash, by Queen, over a video of someone surfing flash based sites on the device.

A simple idea that really gets the message across, brilliant.

With the festival season quickly approaching and hopefully some nice weather, a lot of us be digging out our camping equipment.
If you don’t have any camping kit or if you need to replace your existing tent why not buy the new Camper Van tent. Oh yes that’s right, a tent that shaped like a 1960’s VW Camper Van.
The tent is a life size replica of the classic people carrier and has been fully endorsed by Volkswagen and can contain two separate double-size rooms.
Be warned though because it’s not exactly cheap at £299 but you can at least choose from blue, red or yellow and there is enough room to actually stand up unless of course your very very tall!

As you were probably realise from some of my previous posts I write about items which I’ve seen on Firebox.com and this Post will not be any different. It’s not because I spend all my surfing time browsing this particular web site it’s because they send me a weekly newsletter, which I haven’t yet unsubscribed from.

Until recently I’ve just deleted the emails because I have seen anything of interest but over the last few weeks there advertised some really good stuff. Hence why I’ve passed the information to my fellow bloggers.

Firebox seems to have had a new batch of really coll stuff delivered since the beginning of May and all in time for the Summer. Si, if you want pick up some fun and cool gadgets for the summer visit the web site because you’re bound to find something of interest.

Miniature petrol sports cars

When I was younger I one of my favourite toys was a Go Kart because, obviously, I can pretend it was a real car. But when I grew out of the Go Kart I wanted an upgrade so, I then desired a battery powered toy car because they looked awesome and required no pedalling.
However, I never did get my hands on one which I wasn’t really bothered about because I was getting older and games consoles were the new things to have.

The reason I mention all this is because I’ve just seen the latest adult (and kids) alternative to Go Karts, Pocket Classics!
Pocket Classics are a range of miniature classic cars powered by small petrol engines and design to your specifications. You can choose from a Speedster, 300 SL, E-Type or a Jeep with each having a top speed of 46mph.

The cars are half-scale and look like brilliant fun but are, at £9,995 a bit on the expensive side. For more details click here.

Sony iPad rival

I’ve had an iPad since the end of last year and absolutely love it but it does have its shortcomings. For instance you still can’t view Flash enabled web pages and there are no USB or memory card slots.
As these issues haven’t been resolved with the iPad 2 I’m not sure, when I upgrade, whether I should get the Apple device or look to another manufacturer.
This conundrum could have been solved by Sony who have recently announced that they will be competing in the tablet computer market.
The Japanese technology company have released details of their two new iPad rivals codenamed the S1 and S2. The S1 will be a standard tablet computer with a 9.4inch screen whilst the S2 is designed to fit in your pocket. This is achieved by the device folding in the centre and featuring dual 5.5inch screens which can be viewed as one screen or two separate screens.

Sony expects the S1 and S2 to be available towards the end of the year but they haven’t revealed any prices.

Apple takes Amazon to court over ‘appstore’ name

Amazon has been making a considerable marketing push for its upcoming online marketplace dedicated to selling applications for the Android operating system. However, the use of the name Amazon’ appstore’ is being contested by Apple who claim it is too similar to their own application shop, the App Store.

Apple have stated they believe the naming will lead to confusion amongst consumers. Amazon have yet to respond publicly about the allegations, but are currently attempting to trademark the ‘appstore’ name in the United States.

To add further heat to the debate, Microsoft are trying to block the Amazon trademark as they are soon to release their own applications shop and claim ‘app store’ is a generic term that can’t be copyrighted.

Internet Explorer 9 officially launched

Microsoft has officially released the finalised version internet browser software, Internet Explorer (IE). This marks the ninth iteration of the application and is the software giant’s attempt to compete against tough alternatives.

Internet Explorer 9 boasts faster loading speeds, a streamlined interface and enhanced security features. One of the biggest new features is the introduction of hardware-acceleration using the the computer’s graphics card. This paves the way for modern media, such as browser-based games, high definition audio and video streaming/playback and interactive website content.

One of Internet Explorer’s biggest competitors, Firefox – developed by Mozilla, is also planning to release a new version soon bringing their Firefox 4 browser to the battle.
